Frosty! Brian Cox enjoys an ice cream in Primrose Hill – a world away from his notoriously sweary Succession character of media mogul Logan Roy

As the notoriously sweary media mogul Logan Roy in Succession, Brian Cox was a frosty patriarch who ruled his empire – and his bickering children – with an iron fist.

But the actor revealed a much softer side last week – strolling amiably through Primrose Hill, ice cream in hand

The 77-year-old Scottish star, who won a Golden Globe for his performance as billionaire Roy in the HBO drama, appeared to be alone as he picked up the treat from a roadside ice cream van in the well-heeled North London enclave.

Wearing sunglasses and an indigo shirt, Cox proved he is still a dab hand at dealing with drips – albeit not in the boardroom this time – as he stopped to wipe away ice cream from his moustache and beard.

Now Succession is over, he will return to the London stage next year as another monstrous father, in Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night.

He will also front Amazon’s James Bond-based gameshow, 007’s Road To A Million.

But most recently, Cox has been lending his support to the strike by members of Hollywood’s Screen Actors Guild over pay and the threat to their livelihoods posed by artificial intelligence.

Speaking at a rally in London, he invoked Roy’s foul-mouthed fury to argue for ‘legislation that says ”AI f*** off”’.

He’s clearly no melt.
