A teenager has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of another boy in a park.
The teenager, 16, is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court today (July 14) after he was charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon yesterday.
Formal identification is yet to take place of the dead boy, but police said he has been provisionally identified as Rahaan Ahmed Amin, also 16.
Police were called to West Ham Park in Newham at 5.30pm last Sunday (July 9) to a report of a stabbing.
On arrival, they found a boy with a stab wound and performed emergency first aid before London Ambulance Service paramedics and the London Air Ambulance arrived.
He was later transferred to an east London hospital, where he died the day after.
A post mortem examination which took place on Wednesday (July 12) established his cause of death as a stab wound to the heart.
