Britain’s Got Talent judges give extra JOINT golden buzzer to one-legged dancer after being booed

Britain’s Got Talent fans were left in tears during Saturday’s final audition show as the judges awarded a joint golden buzzer to an act for the first time ever.

Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Bruno Tonioli were left visibly emotional when Musa Motha, a South African native who had his leg amputated aged 10 due to cancer, stunned with a powerful dance routine.

The former footballer, 27, who now resides in London, told how after giving up his sporting dreams, he had learned to dance with the help of his friends.

However, despite being impressed by the performance and giving Musa a standing ovation, the judges were unable to give him a golden buzzer as they’d already been used in previous auditions, prompting boos from the audience.

This led to the judges then breaking the rules and making the decision to jointly press the buzzer, meaning that for the first time, there are eight acts going through to the semi final via the golden buzzer.

Usually, six acts are awarded a golden buzzer, with each of the judges getting one, while Ant and Dec share one.

However this year, two of the judges had used their buzzer twice, meaning that in addition to Musa, eight acts will go straight through to the semi-finals.

Musa blew away both the judges and the audience with his moving dance to Naughty Boy and Beyoncé’s track Runnin’, in which he used his crutches to elevate his moves.

He was awarded with a standing ovation, with Amanda looking visibly emotional, while hosts Ant and Dec declared the performance was ‘sensational’.

The audience then began to chant ‘golden buzzer’ at the judges, with the foursome responding that there was ‘none left’ and their hands were tied.

As they sat down to give their critique, Alesha said the routine was one of the most ‘extraordinary auditions’ she’d seen, adding that she had ‘so much admiration’ for the dancer.

While Bruno added that it was ‘exceptional’ before he was then drowned out with boos from the crowd as they demanded Musa get a golden buzzer.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star yelled to the audience that they’d ‘used them all’, adding that show bosses were ‘going to kill me’ if he’d pressed the golden buzzer again following from his buzzer mishap earlier in the series.

The judges were then seen looking in despair at one another amid the audience reaction, with Bruno noting: ‘They’re going made there!’

It was at this point that head judge Simon gave his fellow judges a knowing look and after joining hands and counting down, all four pressed the buzzer at the same time.

The audience were soon on their feet again as golden confetti rained down on the studio, with a delighted Musa thanking the crowd for their support.

Following the result, emotional viewers rushed to Twitter to share how moved they were following Musa’s incredible performance.

‘If you are watching #bgt right now and not crying you do not have a heart’ commented one.

While a second emotional fan tweeted: ‘OK I’m crying.’

A third write: ‘Never been happier for someone to get the golden buzzer. In absolute bits here!’

‘Are you even human if you’re not crying’ questioned a fourth watcher.

‘This lad on #BGT Who cut the onions’ said a fifth teary fan.

Another gushed: ‘So amazing. I actually had tears. So deserved of the golden buzzer.’

With an additional person adding: ‘I’m in awe, and in floods of tears watching #BGT. This young man is so talented and inspiring! Feel privileged to watch him dance!’

The moment comes just a week after Simon broke the rules again amid his golden buzzer use.

Dance group Unity put on an incredible show during last week’s episode, with the head judge, 63, calling them ‘astonishing’.

The college friends, aged between 16 and 25, wowed judges Simon, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon with their flawless choreography and synchronised dance moves.

But most powerful of all was the incredible message behind their performance – called ‘I will’, showing the importance of embracing who they are.

One member of the group, who has Down’s Syndrome, began the dance as the centre of the group.

In between moments of passionate dancing to The Village by Wrabel, other members of the group came forward with their own messages.

One star, called Declan exclaimed: ‘I am Declan and labels don’t define me. I push the gender boundaries but don’t allow discrimination to change who I am.

‘They try to label me. They say I can’t be who I am but I will.’

There was an emotional hug between Steph and Libby who said they’d had ‘constant eyes’ on them since coming out.

Junior was bullied for loving dance when he grew up, admitting he was beaten up and called names, while Kiera had faced abuse because of her size.

The judges and members of the audience were moved to tears by the emotional performance, while even notoriously-strict judge Simon appeared teary-eyed.

The routine was clearly one that would normally receive a golden buzzer and the audience began chanting for one.

But Simon had already used his golden buzzer – of which judges are only allowed one per season.

Bruno had also used two buzzers – after not realising he was only allowed one.

Simon said: ‘I thought that you actually were astonishing. The way that you got your message across – it was so strong.’

‘Look, we don’t have any golden buzzers left.’

The group momentarily appeared disappointed with the news – but Simon wasn’t done talking.

He continued: ‘But sometimes, I just feel you should break the rules!’, dramatically hitting the button as golden glitter rained down on the ecstatic group.

Dec cried: ‘I don’t even know what’s going on anymore’ in the chaos of the moment as Simon introduced the seventh golden buzzer of the series.
