National League: Altrincham 2 Dagenham & Redbridge 2

Substitute George Saunders struck 13 minutes from time to ensure Dagenham & Redbridge did not return from north-west England empty handed.

After the long midweek journey north, Ben Strevens made just one change to his starting line-up from Saturday’s defeat at Southend, as Sydney Ibie came in for Elliott Johnson.

And the visitors made a positive start, with Inih Effiong and Myles Weston combining well on 11 minutes to no avail.

Regan Linney did well on the right for the hosts on 20 minutes to deliver a dangerous ball right across the face of the Daggers goal, then sent an effort from range sailing past the post after a brief stoppage to allow Mo Sagaf to take on fluids.

But Daggers took the lead on 41 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after a foul by Eddy Jones on Weston and Effiong, having missed from 12 yards at Boreham Wood, converted from the spot to claim his seventh goal for the club and 24th of the season.

Effiong almost turned provider on the stroke of half-time, as he beat his man and played the ball back to Sagaf, whose effort looped over, but Jordan Hulme went close to equalising for the Robins in stoppage time.

Hulme hit the target within a minute of the restart, though, with a conversion at the far post to get the home side back on level terms.

Elliot Justham produced a superb save to deny Isaac Marriot on the hour, with Ibie making way for Saunders soon after.

But Daggers fell behind on 65 minutes as Harry Phipps attempted a last-ditch tackle but saw the ball trickle past Justham into his own net.

Angelo Balanta was replaced by Jay Bird with 18 minutes remaining, with Hulme putting a shot wide after going clean through soon after.

And Daggers drew level on 77 minutes after Bird collected a half-cleared corner and found fellow substitute Saunders, whose deep cross troubled the Altrincham keeper and found the back of the net for his second goal of the season.

David Longe-King picked up a late booking before five minutes of injury time failed to produce a winner for either side and Daggers will return to Victoria Road to host FC Halifax Town in their last home fixture of the season on Saturday.

Dagenham & Redbridge: Justham, Hare, Onariase, Effiong, Sagaf, Balanta (Bird 72), Weston, Phipps, Ling, Longe-King, Ibie (Saunders 62). Unused subs: Strizovic, Mussa, Scott.
