The best gigs coming to Hampshire in the new year

<p><strong>THERE is music for everyone in Southampton and on the south coast in 2023 as big touring names visit and local acts headline their own shows.</strong></p>
<p>Sheffield rock superstars Arctic Monkeys will play The Ageas Bowl in front of up to 25,000 people in June, and The Guildhall will see Suede, KT Tunstall, The Damned and Alfie Boe perform.</p>
<p>Local acts also have gigs locked in, with Southampton’s Wild Front playing two nights in January at Heartbreakers, and Band of Skulls also having a doubleheader at The Joiners in February.</p>

<p>And aspiring singers can join Shaun Williamson, alias Barry from Eastenders, when he returns with his fun Barrioke show at The Engine Rooms on Friday March 31.</p>
<p>After supporting The Amazons at The Guildhall in October, Isle of Wight quartet Coach Party headline The Joiners on Tuesday January 31. Elsewhere, Southampton’s Sean McGowan plays The Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea on Saturday May 27.</p>
<p>Psychedelic rock band, Kula Shaker take over The Engine Rooms on Saturday February 4, while New York-based We Are Scientists return to the same venue on Thursday March 2.</p>

<p>At the Guildhall, Scottish songwriter KT Tunstall brings all her hits on Friday March 3, indie kings Suede play on Friday March 24 and London punk pioneers The Damned appear on Tuesday April 18.</p>
<p>Later in the year, Lancashire tenor Alfie Boe brings his incomparable voice to Southampton’s biggest indoor venue on Tuesday September 19, and South Yorkshire four-piece The Sherlocks, fresh from supporting Kaiser Chiefs, promise to ignite The Engine Rooms with their electrifying setlist on Friday October 20.</p>
<p>New music also sees Winsford’s The Luka State appear at Heartbreakers on Saturday March 25, Manchester five-piece Corella travel to The Joiners on Sunday March 12 and Ringwood’s Ear Candy also headlines the St Mary Street venue on Friday March 31.</p>

The brightest new acts play Golden Touch festival at The Wedgwood Rooms on Saturday June 10, and, in August, Victorious Festival returns to Southsea with the first announced acts of acid-jazz superstars Jamiroquai, The Vaccines, The Coral and Coventry trio The Enemy.
