Police called to the back of the school in the 1600-block of Hastings Drive, just north of Fanshawe Park Road East, located the woman shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday, London police said. Police did not specify the school’s name, but Jack Chambers public school is the only one in that area.

The woman was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Asked if they could provide more details about the condition the woman was found in, police declined comment.

The woman was found amid bitter cold that has descended on the area, triggering a weather alert, as the first blizzard of the season descended on the area.

The London police major crime division is assisting the coroner in the investigation, which police caution is “still in early stages and not yet classified regarding manner or cause.”

There is no threat to public safety, media officer Const. Joel Davis said.

Police are appealing to the public for information about the incident.

“If anyone has any home security cameras that may capture the area behind the school, or if anyone is aware of what was going on with the female who was located in medical distress, they (should) reach out,” Davis said.

London police can be contacted at 519-661-5670 and Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
