Wizz Air is expanding its route network from London Luton and Gatwick Airport. The Hungarian ultra-low-cost airline announced earlier this week that four new routes from the airports began this month.

With the flights already operating, tickets are available on the airline’s website or its mobile app. The news comes after the carrier said five more routes would be launched from Belgrade, Serbia, next summer after it receives its fourth A321 aircraft.

Luton to Poland

From London Luton Airport, Wizz Air started new service to Lodz, Poland, last week on December 12th. The Polish city is the center of the country’s film industry, where travelers can expect colorful street art, several museums, and a lively nightlife scene. Two days later, on December 14th, the carrier launched new service to Bydgoszcz, Poland. The city is reportedly known as the “Polish Venice” due to its idyllic riverside setting. Travelers can also experience the unique Museum of Dirt and History of Soap and explore the Old Town of the city.

Gatwick to Italy and France

On December 13th, Wizz Air inaugurated flights to Verona, Italy, from London Gatwick Airport. The carrier said passengers could fly to the city where Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet was famously set and visit architectural delights such as Juliet’s balcony and the Arena di Verona, one of the world’s best-preserved Roman amphitheaters.

And on December 17th, the airline started flights from Gatwick to Grenoble, the French capital of the Alps. Wizz Air said the Grenoble service would be seasonal, catered explicitly to winter sports enthusiasts.

As an ultra-low-cost airline, passengers can count on the affordability to travel on these new flights from Luton and Gatwick. Fares have reportedly started at £12.99 ($15.66).

“We are thrilled to announce the addition of four new routes from our bases at London Luton Airport and Gatwick Airport, which give our passengers an even greater variety of exciting city break and holiday options for Winter and beyond. We constantly strive to expand our route network and invest in the UK market, creating more low-fare connections whilst stimulating the local economies around our airport bases. We look forward to welcoming customers onboard our young, efficient, and sustainable aircraft as they travel over this festive period and into the New Year.” – Marion Geoffroy, Wizz Air UK Managing Director

Paving the way by being fuel efficient

As the largest operator of the A321neo with 75 in service, the airline will likely utilize the aircraft type at some point on the newly launched Luton and Gatwick routes. The airline said the fuel-efficient jet is the showpiece of its fleet and is a testament to its continued commitment to reducing the intensity of carbon emissions.
