Nurses’ walkouts scheduled for 18 and 19 January, ambulance workers’ strikes for 11 and 23 January

The RCN union has announced new strikes for Wednesday 18 January and Thursday 19 January after the government failed to make any new pay offer. This follows strikes on 15 and 20 December. Picket line details will be out early in 2023.
The Unison union has called further ambulance strikes on Wednesday 11 January and Monday 23 January. The GMB union has wrongly called off strikes planned for 28 December—but has instead called action alongside Unison on 11 January.
- Every trade unionist and worker should prepare now for solidarity on these days with picket line visits, workplace action, and, if possible, stoppages.
- The RCN should call out all those who voted for strikes on these days. It should also call marches and other focuses for solidarity.
- The strikes would be most effective if ambulance workers and nurses came out on the same days.
- The TUC union federation should call for solidarity everywhere with NHS strikes.
The Unison ambulance strikes are set to take place in London, Yorkshire, the North West, North East and South West.
