A growing number of cold water swimmers are catching hypothermia as temperatures drop, according to one of London’s most popular outdoor pools.
The Parliament Hill Lido, in Hampstead, north London, which has an unheated open air swimming pool, has warned inexperienced swimmers not to stay in the cold water too long, after at least one person a day in the last week suffered from hypothermia as temperatures fell earlier this month.
On its Facebook page this week, the pool said: “The lifeguard team have asked you all to be careful and to shorten your swim from now on. The water temperature has dropped five degrees in a matter of days and some people are still insisting on staying in the water as long as they
