Amir Khan left perplexed by passerby’s comment during London trip | Boxing | Sport

Amir Khan was taken off guard by a member of the public’s comment during a recent trip to London. The retired professional boxer was enjoying the sights of the capital during a scenic walk across Tower Bridge when a passerby hilariously told him that he ‘looks like Amir Khan’.

With a grin on his face, Khan replied: “You’re the second person that’s said that,” before bursting into laughter. The bizarre interaction was caught on camera by Khan during a story posted to his Instagram.

And boxing fans have not let the punter off the loose. “Now that I think about it, the resemblance is there. He really does look like Amir Khan,” joked one fan (@MarkeicePatrick) on Twitter.

“What’s the guy on about? Amir Khan doesn’t have a beard! Honestly,” added another (@Exeter_Hour).

The 35-year-old had some blockbuster nights including a bout against former pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez which garnered over 17 million viewers in Mexico alone and a career-best showing against Marcos Maidana at the Mandalay Bay Events Centre in Las Vegas.

Despite seemingly calling it quits for good, Khan has continually teased the possibility of a comeback and has expressed interest in an exhibition contest against Floyd Mayweather.

“I’ve always said since my last fight I want to take a full twelve months off,” Khan told Intu Boxing. “I don’t think I have that hunger in me, but maybe in a year’s time that might come back. If it’s a massive name, like a Floyd Mayweather, then the hunger will definitely come back.”
