Suspicious activity at a housing complex in south London has led to criminal harassment and sexual assault charges against a Kincardine man.
Between November 12 and November 14, a man wearing a security company jacket was seen trying to get inside the building complex. Multiple women reported seeing the man to London police.
Security surveillance video showed the man knocking on the doors of several units. In one incident, a woman answered the door and the man tried to push his way inside. In the process he allegedly touched the woman in a sexual manner, police said.
The fire department called police to the same complex around 10:15 p.m. on November 12 after the fire alarm was pulled and a man was seen acting aggressive while trying to get into the building.
The man took off before police arrived.
Through further investigation, police determined the suspect in that incident was the same one involved in the earlier suspicious activity.
A 51-year-old from Kincardine was arrested. He has since been charged with two counts of criminal harassment by repeated communication, sexual assault, being unlawfully in a dwelling house, false alarm of a fire, and possession of a schedule I substance. The man is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on December 16.
Police are asking anyone who has additional information about this incident to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
