London’s In The Round 2023 welcomes #Merky Books, Dave Okumu, and Guy Garvey.
The festival takes place in North London’s historic Roundhouse venue, known for its community projects and fervent support of new music. The event takes place in April 2023, and utilises the ‘in the round’ format, with the audience surrounding the artist to create a renewed form of intimacy.
New names on the bill include Dave Okumu and the 7 Generations, the latest project from the Invisible co-founder, Jessie Ware collaborator, and one of the most respected men in the British music industry.
Elsewhere, Guy Garvey’s Finest Hour comes to the Roundhouse, with the 6Music show touching down at the venue for a special evening, in which the singer performs material he has discovered through his 15 year tenure with the show.
Stormzy’s #Merky Books are also promising something special – a mini-literature festival taking place within the Roundhouse.
The new additions join previously announced acts such as Sona Jobarteh, Laura Veirs, Cam and Rodrigo y Gabriela, while In The Road will also be hosting such activities as Sound Heal Grow: Sound Bath, Skin Deep: Sonic Transmissions, In The Round Late – The Magic, and more.
Roundhouse’s Head of Music Lucy Wood states: “Audiences have unique and up-close experiences of music, whilst artists have the opportunity to present their work to a rapt, attentive crowd in a big, beautiful space…”
“As well as intimate gigs in the Roundhouse Main Space, other activities – all rooted in music – will take place throughout the venue, in keeping with the ITR ethos of providing platforms for diverse creativity to thrive”
In The Round 2023 runs between April 15th – 25th.
