Arsenal’s best starting XI if transfer rumours are true

Arsenal have enjoyed a stellar start to the 2022/23 campaign as they head into Christmas at the top of the Premier League table. After years of disappointing transfer windows that saw them sign the likes of Willian, Nicolas Pepe and Cedric, the Gunners’ summer activity has helped them well on their way to their first league title in 19 years.

There was a lot of questions raised when Arsenal appointed Mikel Arteta and even more when he made some risky signings such as Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White for over £70 million in total. However, the Spaniard’s ‘project’ is starting to pay off and they are arguably only a couple of players away from comfortably winning the title.

The North London club have been linked with a large number of players ahead of the January transfer window as they look to keep up their challenge of the top spot. Here is how next season’s starting line-up could look in February if the rumours are true…

1. Aaron Ramsdale

Ramsdale has nailed down the number one spot in North London and is unlikely to be replaced unless his performances falter.

2. Denzel Dumfries

Arsenal are one of a number of clubs that have been linked with Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries in recent weeks. Reports have claimed that the Gunners are willing to spend over £30m to lure the Dutchman to the Emirates Stadium.

3. Ben White

White has been superb at right-back this season, however Mikel Arteta may consider him moving back to the centre of defence if he can bolster the right flank.

4. William Saliba

After spending the last three years out on loan, Saliba has returned this season and has been sensational for Arsenal. At only 21, the Frenchman could be a key part of their defence for a long time.
