Tottenham could ‘hit the jackpot’ after Tanguy Ndombele news

Tottenham Hotspur have been told that they could ‘hit the jackpot’ after some exit news on midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

The Lowdown: Ndombele clause emerges…

According to recent reports, the Lilywhites and Daniel Levy now expect to complete the permanent exit of the club-record signing next year.

Football Insider claim that Spurs hold out hope of offloading the Frenchman for good thanks in part to a clause in the player’s loan deal with Napoli.

A north London ‘source‘ told the outlet that there is a £30m purchase option which is triggered if the Serie A giants qualify for the Champions League. This seems fairly likely as Napoli are currently flying high at the summit of Italy’s top flight and haven’t lost a single match so far domestically.

The Latest: Wenham thrilled by Spurs update…

Speaking to the same outlet, Tottenham ‘expert’ Wenham has praised the Lilywhites for this alleged clause in the Ndombele deal.

He claims that recouping £30m for the midfielder would be like ‘winning the lottery’, whilst raving over the ‘brilliant’ update.

Wenham stated to Football Insider: “Considering I would let Ndombele go for nothing, £30million would be like winning the lottery.

“I don’t remember the exact wording of the initial reports that said Ndombele was going to Napoli. There was some talk that the option to buy would turn into an obligation if they finish in the top four.

“I think that’s what I read. Napoli are absolutely flying at the moment, top of the league. But, historically, they don’t drop £30million on a signing.

“It would be brilliant if, for once, our transfer team at the club have gone above and beyond and there is no way that Napoli can wriggle out of it. If this the case then Tottenham have hit the jackpot.”

The Verdict: Good news…

Depending on whether or not Napoli end up paying £30m, this fee would be an absolutely brilliant one to receive from a Spurs perspective, considering how much Ndombele has underperformed in north London.

Spurs manager Antonio Conte hinted to the press that the 25-year-old found it difficult to understand tactical demands of him, with Ndombele also being criticised for his laziness in past seasons.

Bearing that in mind, the permanent sale of Ndombele should be among Fabio Paratici’s top priorities for the summer.
