Charlton Athletic boss provides positive injury update on attacking duo – South London News

Miles Leaburn and Diallang Jaiyesimi are both set to be back in Charlton’s first-team fold before Christmas.

Both attacking players have been ruled out with ankle injuries.

Leaburn, 18, has scored five goals this season in an impressive start to life in senior football. His absence has left the Addicks with Chuks Aneke and Jayden Stockley as their only out-and-out frontline options.

“The closest to being back is DJ,” Garner told the South London Press. “DJ was out on the grass running yesterday, which was fantastic to see.

“Miles is running but on the auto-g, so the anti-gravity. He’s due to start doing that on Monday, which will be a nice step forward for him.

“DJ will be the first one back, then Miles after that.

“Both should be back well in advance of Christmas, hopefully, and get them back in. We’ve got to do as well as we can in the meantime and then when we start getting these players back it will be like new signings – real boosts to the group and strengthen us up.

“There is a nice focus and nice resilience from everyone else at the moment to keep as much momentum as possible and win as many games of football as we can in the meantime.”

Charlton head to Burton Albion tomorrow with no fresh injury worries.

“We’re good,” said Garner. “We’re as we were on Tuesday night [against Stevenage] – no additional injuries and no worries from that.”
