New chief executive takes the reins at Chestertons…

John Ennis has officially started as chief executive of Chestertons today, expressing excitement about leading the historic estate agency brand into the “next chapter of its history.”

Before announcing that he was joining Chestertons back in the summer, Ennis had spent the past 23 years at London-based rival Foxtons, where he was one of the most senior and longest-serving directors.

He is credited with training and managing some of the industry’s most successful agents and executives including predecessor Guy Gittins, now chief executive of Foxtons and OnTheMarket boss Jason Tebb.

He will be supported by Chestertons’ established team of senior executives, including Richard Davies, who has now become chief operating officer after leading the company’s lettings division for a number of years.

Ennis said: “I have long admired the Chestertons brand and have been impressed by the business’s ability to adapt to the market and come out ahead of its less agile competitors, so it would be an understatement to say that I’m excited to be leading it into the next chapter of its history.

“Our clients are facing challenges from all directions but Chestertons has invested in its people, technology and systems to ensure that they continue to get the most experienced and knowledgeable advisors, backed up by data-led intel, to help them make the right decisions when it comes to their property plans.”

Chestertons was founded in 1805 and now has more than 500 employees.
