Millwall ‘shy of shooting’ in 1-0 defeat at Huddersfield Town – South London News

Gary Rowett felt his Millwall team showed improvement in the second half of their defeat at Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions were beaten 1-0 in West Yorkshire, ending their four-match winning run and they also dropped out of the Championship’s top six.

“That’s where you are hoping for a little bit of brilliance from your team,” said Rowett. “You are hoping that someone beats someone. We got into some really good positions to then go and make a difference.”

The Lions managed just one shot on target in the entire 90 minutes.

The last time that happened was the 1-0 defeat against Reading at The Den back in August.

Rowett added. “We just seemed a little bit shy of shooting today for some reason. There were a couple of times with Vogey and Flemm, we got into those little inside pockets, and we tried to make an extra pass as I said, crosses into the box, didn’t allow ourselves to create that pressure on Huddersfield for long enough.

“We had a couple of moments. Tyler [Burey] prods one goalwards, it just gets saved on the line, and Benik [Afobe] has a little moment where we wonder if it might be a penalty or if he can do a little bit better with the shot.

“It was one of those games that Huddersfield worked just about hard enough, just about diligently enough and we didn’t do enough or have the quality to open them up.”
