A cyclist has head and facial injuries after an “unprovoked” attack by masked attempted robbers in Southwark Park.

The victim, 43, told police he was stopped by three men on bicycles who had pushed him from his e-bike and stolen it at around 7pm on Monday (October 24).

He suffered head and facial injuries during the attack.

The victim chased the trio and with the help of a member of the public, got his bike back.

His head and face were injured during the attack.

The group, believed to be in their late teens and wearing all black clothing and face coverings, then fled towards Southwark Park Road.

Police are now asking ant witnesses or anyone with further information to contact police quoting crime reference number CAD 5833/24Oct.

There have been no arrests so far.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following an attempted robbery in south London that left a cyclist with head injuries.

“Police were called at about 19:05hrs on Monday, 24 October to Southwark Park, SE16.

“Officers attended and a spoke with a 43-year-old man.

“He informed them that he had been cycling on his E-bike when he was stopped by three males on bicycles.

“They pushed him from his E-bike before launching an unprovoked attack and stealing his bike.

“The victim gave chase, and with the help of a member of public, he was able to recover his property.

“The suspects fled in the direction of Southwark Park Road.

“The victim sustained head and facial injuries in the robbery.

“The suspects are believed to be aged in their late teens and were wearing black clothing.

“They had their faces covered.

“Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference CAD 5833/24Oct.

“To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
