National League: Dagenham & Redbridge 4 Wealdstone 1

Dagenham & Redbridge saw off Wealdstone in style at Victoria Road to claim a first win in five National League games.

Daryl McMahon named an unchanged starting line-up from their midweek draw with Boreham Wood and saw his injury-hit squad take the lead after just six minutes.

Recent loan signing Tyreke Johnson produced a fine delivery into the box, which was met by a towering header from Harry Phipps to open the scoring.

Wealdstone, beaten 6-1 at home by Notts County on Tuesday, saw Charlie Barker pick up the first booking of the game on 20 minutes, giving Daggers a free-kick in a dangerous position.

And the home side doubled their lead in fine style as Junior Morias fired home from 20 yards to claim his seventh goal of the season.

Matt Robinson had his name taken soon after, while Morias fired another free-kick just wide from 30 yards before play was held up after a strong challenge between Dean Rance and Micah Obiero.

Daggers went close to a third before the break as Robinson sent an effort just wide, but the home fans were happy enough during the interval.

Loanee Sam Smart made way for Myles Weston early in the second half and Daggers went 3-0 up soon after as a superb counter-attack left Josh Walker in on goal to calmly slot past Stones keeper Sam Howes for his fifth of the campaign.

Omar Mussa replaced Johnson in the second change for Daggers, who saw Elliot Justham booked on 71 minutes and Morias shown the home side’s third yellow card of the game soon after.

Walker was replaced by Aaron Blair to make his second appearance of the season, after returning from his loan spell at Braintree, in the closing stages.

And Daggers were awarded a penalty as normal time drew to a finish, with man of the match Morias stepping up and making no mistake from the spot.

Sam Bahergham grabbed an injury-time reply for Stones, but it was little consolation for Stuart Maynard’s men.

The win lifted Daggers up to 11th place, three points off the play-off spots, while Wealdstone drop to 16th after a fifth successive loss.
