National Fish & Chip awards: South East London shop named finalist

A South East London fish and chip shop has been named as a finalist in a national takeaway of the year competition. 

Olley’s Fish Experience Fish and Chips in nearby Dulwich Village was named the only South London nomination in the Top 20 Takeaway of the Year, in the National Fish and Chip Awards.

The locally run shop is a reference to the Charles Dickens book Oliver Twist with the use of Olley’s coming after the shop became known for its misspelling and decided to keep it. 

Self-described as ‘the famous Olley’s’ it was established back in 1987 and has a solid TripAdvisor rating of 3.5/5.

One user of the popular review website shared that they’re “Not surprised they have won so many awards for their restaurant.”

Adding: “The chips are like chips I have never tasted before, the pickled onions have a really unique taste and the tartar sauce is my personal favourite just how do they make it???”

Olley’s offers an array of food, with fish including cod, place, sea trout, calamari and more with the options of fried, grilled or steamed. 

Plus they even have pies with the choice of butternut squash and goat’s chees and chicken, mushroom and tarragon to name just a few. 

The fish and chip shop has a classic and traditional menu with a lot to offer and something for everyone. 

The finals for the highly anticipated, National Fish & Chip Awards, hosted by The National Federation of Fish Friers are being hosted on February 28 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.
