35 y/o Conte target would be ‘massive signing’ at Hotspur Way

What is the latest news involving Bonucci?

The talk currently coming out of Italy is that Bonucci could leave Juventus amid a deteriorating relationship with manager Massimiliano Allegri.

According to Calciomercatotv.it, a transfer is now inevitable after a breakdown in relationship between the two parties.

The website has also claimed that Tottenham and Conte want to sign Bonucci, with the 53-year-old keen to add an experienced defender to his squad.

Bonucci is obviously a player Conte knows well, with the Spurs boss managing the centre-back when he was in charge of Juventus and Italy.

What has O’Rourke said about Bonucci and Tottenham?

O’Rourke likes the sound of Bonucci reuniting with Conte in north London.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “The experience that he’d bring to the squad and his winning mentality would be massive if he was to end up leaving Juventus.

“Obviously, he knows all about Antonio Conte and Antonio Conte knows all about him as well, so it would look like a good piece of business if Spurs were able to bring him to the club.”

Would Bonucci be a good signing for Tottenham?

He could be. As already mentioned, he has that relationship with Conte, playing under him 112 times at Juventus.

Bonucci is also obviously a very experienced defender. The Italy international is now 35, but age has not stopped Thiago Silva from excelling at Chelsea, for example.

Discussing his impact in the Premier League and Spurs’ interest in Bonucci, former Leeds striker Noel Whelan told Football Insider: “Look at Thiago Silva; look at [Raphael] Varane now. You can never have too much experience.

“He [Bonucci] looks like someone who keeps himself in good nick. He’s fit, professional. Players like that bring a new dimension to a football club. He’s a serial winner with a really competitive nature. He won’t be coming to Tottenham, if he does, to just see out the rest of his career. He’ll be helping a team be successful.”

All in all, Tottenham signing Bonucci would make a lot of sense. Conte is looking to win silverware now, and his former player could help him and the north London club to do just that.
