A second man has today been charged in connection with the attempted robbery and knife attack in Bishopsgate on October 6 and a woman has also been charged with assisting an offender.

City of London Police announced today that Tyrone Dean, 23, of Willow Walk in Tottenham, north London, has been charged with two counts of robbery, three counts of grevious bodily harm, two counts of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a Class B drug.

Meanwhile a 20-year-old woman who has not been named has been charged with assisting an offender and has been bailed.

Both were arrested in Essex on Thursday. It comes after a man appeared in court this week charged with offences including causing grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to rob in relation to the incident on October 6.

There is no confirmation on when either will appear in court at this stage.

The City of London Police received reports of three stabbings on Bishopsgate at 9.46am on 6 October and officers arrived at the scene at 9.51am.

Three people were taken to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged. A further three people were injured.

The aftermath of the scene at 22 Bishopsgate, yards from Liverpool Street Station, showed the chaos caused in the attack

Terrifying video footage showed carnage during rush hour, when several have-a-go heroes were injured while trying to stop an alleged robbery outside the 22 Bishopsgate skyscraper.

In the chaos that followed three people were injured, with one man left needing 52 stitches after being slashed across the face.

Louis Parkinson, 25, of Catherall Street, Highbury, north London, was previously charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a Class B drug.

On Tuesday, Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard that two men on pushbikes tried to snatch a mobile phone outside a City office during the morning rush hour but members of the public stepped in.

It was claimed one of the robbers attacked several people with a knife before allegedly passing the knife to Louis Parkinson, 25, who is accused of slashing another man in the face, Westminster magistrates were told.

Parkinson is accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on city broker Henry Charlton-Weedy outside the 22 Bishopsgate skyscraper just before 9.45am on October 6.

Mr Charlton-Weedy’s wife, Helen Carr, has since said he was left needing 52 stitches after the incident.

The court heard Parkinson tried to snatch a phone off a passer-by who cried out for help and other people rushed to try and pull the pair to the floor.

Aarya Mishra, prosecuting, said: ‘The defendant and another man were together cycling through London on a pedal cycle.

‘They were together, trying to snatch phones from various victims’ hands. This led to what has been described as an incredibly violent series of events.

‘The defendant tried to snatch a phone from a member of the public who cries out to other members of the public to try and detain the defendant and his associate.

‘His associate produced a knife and slashed various members of the public. He then handed that to the defendant who slashed a member of the public’s face so gravely that he required 52 stiches.’

Parkinson’s lawyer Kishoree Kotecha-Pau made no bail application and spoke only to remind the court he was arrested at his home rather than at the scene.

Magistrates remanded Parkinson into custody and he will next appear at Inner London Crown Court on November 8.
