West London-based artist studio HQI is launching a development program for aspiring young musicians.
Together with the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, HQI has established its Artist Development Program as part of the former’s Sounds Like Hammersmith & Fulham project, which aims to offer young people a stepping stone towards working within the creative industries.
Established as a free program, the Artist Development Program will be offered to 15 residents of the Hammersmith & Fulham borough, and be spread across 10 months. It will include a series of public masterclasses that are open to all, with musicians Mykki Blanco, GAIKA and Seb Gainsborough (aka Vessel) among the figures taking part in that element of the project.
Speaking about the project, Justine Simons OBE, Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries in Hammersmith & Fulham, said: “Music has the power to inspire and transform the lives of young Londoners, and it is vital that we support their skills and talent. I’m delighted that the Sounds like Hammersmith & Fulham programme, funded by the Mayor of London’s Cultural Impact Awards, is providing more opportunities for young musicians and artists to grow their creative futures.”
Applications to the Artist Development Program are open right now to 18-25-year-olds working in the music or visual arts industries and living in Hammersmith & Fulham via HQI’s website. They will close on 30th November, though early sign-up is recommended to be given priority access to the public masterclasses.
Sign-ups to attend the public masterclass program at HQI’s base are also now open, and the first, featuring Gainsborough and focused on ‘Exploring World-Building and Audio-Visual Landscapes’, is scheduled for 2nd November. You can RSVP here.
