‘I deflate 4×4 tyres on my way back from work’: Chelsea Tractor-hating mother-of-three, 62, reveals she secretly lets air out of the tyres of SUVs as payback for polluting her neighbourhood – and she says she ‘doesn’t mind’ if she gets caught

A Chelsea Tractor-hating mother-of-three has revealed that she secretly lets air out of SUV tyres as payback for them polluting her neighbourhood.
The 62-year-old, who asked not to be named, has claimed to have released air out of 80 different cars across west London – and doesn’t mind if she gets caught.
The writer, volunteer and film worker is fed up of the cars ‘imposing’ on her and has resorted to ‘destructive’ action.
Her hatred for large cars began when she ‘couldn’t believe’ just how many 4×4 cars she was seeing on London’s roads.
The woman from near Battersea, south London, revealed that she has been caught in the act before by the car owners but has so far avoided getting in trouble, MyLondon reports.
‘I would say that so far I have deflated 80 different cars. I don’t want to be doing it and I don’t enjoy it but it’s an extreme reaction that comes from desperation,’ she said.
‘If the Government won’t do anything then what else can we do?’

The woman recalled how she started deflating tyres around ten years ago after she realised that small Smart Cars were not going to be the future of travel.
Instead she became angered at the ‘unnecessary size’ of cars which were getting ‘bigger and bigger’.
‘The cars are releasing carbon emissions and polluting the area around me and I can’t do anything about it,’ she said.

‘They’re being imposed on me and I thought for a long time about what I could do about it. Then I found out about the Tyre Extinguisher movement.’
The Tyre Extinguisher group are notorious for simply deflating the tyres of large vehicles in a stance against climate change.
The mother, who does not fear being jailed, has branded SUV drivers ‘aggressive’ and ‘selfish’, comparing them to smokers.
She has even called for SUVs to be banned like smoking indoors was.
Despite deflating tyres technically being criminal damage, she wants to continue doing it until ‘the Government notices’.
She has considered the risk of a driver getting injured but believes that SUVs are more dangerous.

After attempting to make a difference through putting leaflets on the windscreens of cars, she soon decided that it was going to have to take more.
The 62-year-old now uses her commute to unscrew the tyre caps as she looks to make a point.
The woman believes that SUVs are climate change inducing and despite being caught a few times, it has not deterred her from carrying on.
She described being confronted by a man after she was caught with her hand on the tyre cap of his car.
She claims that he told her he ‘understands where I’m coming from’ after she explained her reasoning.
Tyre Extinguishers are trying to attract more followers each day. On their website it explains: ‘Deflating tyres repeatedly and encouraging others to do the same will turn the minor inconvenience of a flat tyre into a giant obstacle for driving massive killer vehicles around our streets.’
