Raheem Sterling mentions Harrow buses as part of his ‘route to success’

Chelsea and England superstar Raheem Sterling has credited bus routes in Harrow as part of his route to success in his footballing journey.

The international star, raised in Neasden, has teamed up with his boot sponsor New Balance on the new ‘Route to Success’ design.

The new range of footwear from NB features a pattern that many Harrow residents will be familiar with – based on the seats on buses in London back in the day.

Raheem mentioned his sister, Lakima, who would take him to training when he was with the QPR Youth Academy back in the 1990s.

Although Raheem lived in Neasden growing up, he attended Copland School in Wembley and would be a frequent traveler on the buses he mentions in the tweet.

Raheem Sterling Tweeted: “3 buses to get to training. 18, 182 and 140. I’ll never forget those numbers. No matter what, my big sister Lakima with me every single day. My latest boot is dedicated to her and all those moments we shared together, on the #RouteToSuccess.”

Earlier this year after a seven year spell at Manchester City, Sterling completed a £47.5 million move back to London to join Chelsea.

Sterling, 27, is expected to be at the forthcoming World Cup having already received 79 caps for England and scoring 19 goals.
