AFC Wimbledon snap up ‘experienced’ League Two free agent until January – South London News

AFC Wimbledon have completed the signing of former Colchester United winger Courtney Senior on a short-term contract.

The 25-year-old has joined the Dons until January and bolsters Johnnie Jackson’s attacking options after Brentford loanee Nathan Young-Coombes picked up a knee injury.

Croydon-born Senior featured 145 times for Colchester United in all competitions during his four seasons at the Colchester Community Stadium.

Senior moved to Newport County in 2021 but suffered a cruciate ligament injury which stopped him from making a competitive appearance for the Exiles.

He has spent the past week training with the South Londoners and put pen to paper ahead of Wimbledon’s home game against his former side Colchester.

Jackson told Wimbledon’s official website: “Courtney has done really well in training this week – he’s caught the eye and has been impressive.

“He has good experience of the Football League and this division. He’s an exciting player that can take people on and go both ways. He adds extra creativity in the final third and gives us something different.”
