National Hate Crime Awareness Week
There is no place for hate in Tower Hamlets: that is the message this Hate Crime Awareness Week (8 to 15 October).
Although the majority of people in Tower Hamlets are respectful of each other, there is a small number who target others because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability, which is known as a hate crime.
To mark the national awareness week, the council and partners are holding a number of events and activities to show that this behaviour is not welcome or tolerated in Tower Hamlets:

Alongside this, the council will once again be encouraging businesses, organisations and individuals to sign its pledge against hate crime.
Signing the pledge means the signer will take steps to stand against hate crimes, such as ensuring events taking place at their premises do not promote any form of hate; monitor and report incidents of hate crime; and train staff on how to recognise hate crimes and what action they should take if they see it.
The individual or organisation with the most sign-ups will receive an award. Our No Place for Hate Competition will run from 1 to 31 October.
