Link between East Croydon railway station and Addiscombe to open – South London News

A new link from East Croydon raiway station to Addiscombe could soon open after a long wait.

The bridge is part of the Morello II project, which started in 2020 and is made up of 456 flats across three buildings. It follows the £100m Morello I project which saw 300 flats built in Cherry Orchard Road.

New steps from the development will link up to a bridge which was completed in 2013. The 100m-long bridge over the platforms was a £20 million project between Network Rail and Croydon council.

The new steps as part of the development, from company Menta, means travellers will be able to access the station directly from Cherry Orchard Road. The other side of the bridge can be accessed from Dingwall Road.

The Morello project is a £350 million scheme and the latest development. One of the blocks, a nine-storey building of 118 flats, is expected to be offered as affordable rent and shared ownership properties, through Latimer, part of Clarion Housing Group.

It will be known as Crescent Gardens and is expected to be finished in 2023.
