Roadworks Update – A4 Great West Road

Transport for London has announced road closures along the A4 Great West Road, as part of ongoing essential maintenance work.

Published: Friday, 23rd September 2022

Transport for London (TfL) will carry out essential maintenance work on the Cromwell Road Railway Bridge, which carries the A4 Great West Road over the railway between Hogarth Roundabout and Chiswick Roundabout.

It will mean sections of the road will face closures, starting this weekend and continuing into October.

The details are:

  • Sunday, 25 September – full westbound closure between Chiswick Roundabout and Hogarth Roundabout from 10pm until 5am the following morning.
  • Monday 26 September – full eastbound closure between M4 junction 3 and Chiswick Roundabout from 10pm until 5am the following morning.
  • Sunday, 23 October – full westbound closure between Chiswick Roundabout and Hogarth Roundabout from 10pm until 5am the following morning.
  • From Monday, 26 September there will be one lane open westbound between Hogarth Roundabout and Chiswick Roundabout.
  • From Tuesday, 27 September, there will be two lanes open eastbound between Chiswick Roundabout and Hogarth roundabout.

TfL says it will make every effort to re-open the roads on time, but there is a possibility the works may be affected by bad weather.

Motorists and bus users should allow extra time for their journey. Please use the A40 Westway and M40 between central London and the M25.

These works began in August. They were suspended to support the commemorative events following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The works are expected to be completed in December.
