Highbury Fields stabbing: two more arrested

Deshaun James Tuitt

TWO more boys have been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing at Highbury Fields last month.

Deshaun James Tuitt, 15, died of knife injuries on the evening of August 4, after being taken from the park to hospital.

Last Friday a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder, while a 14-year-old boy was arrested on the same charge on Tuesday.

They were taken to a police station in east London and bailed after being given a return date for mid-October.

Three people have already been arrested on suspicion of murder, including a 15-year-old boy and two 14-year-old boys.

A 34-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All of those previously arrested have been released on bail.

Deshaun’s family have been told of the latest developments in the case and are being supported by specialist officers.

Deshaun lived in the Pembury Estate near Hackney Downs in east London. Last month, Hackney Council’s safety chief Councillor Susan Fajana-Thomas said she was “devastated to hear of the tragic death of Deshaun”.

Police renewed their appeal for witnesses this week.

“Despite these arrests we are still very keen to hear from anyone who has information or footage relating to this incident,” said Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, of the Met Police Specialist Crime Command.
