Junior GP wildcard ride ends in disaster for O’Gorman – South London News

Erith motorcyle racer Casey O’Gorman’s dream wildcard ride in the Junior GP championships ended in the gravel at Misano last weekend.

The weekend got off to a rocky start when problems with the officials meant it initially looked like he may not even get a start.

The 15 year old riding for the MT Helmets – MSI team qualified his KTM Moto3 machine in 22nd place for the weekend’s race held on the same bill as the MotoGP championships.

A lightning start in the race saw the schoolboy move up to 17th place and was well inside the top 20 battling for the points when a Talent Team rider dived under him at turn 12, lifting the youngster up, sending him crashing into the gravel traps at high speed.

Remounting in last place O’Gorman pushed on to retake several places to eventually cross the line in 25th place.

Although understandably disappointed, O’Gorman did enough to impress the team and confirmed long time contracts with Alpinestars and KYT.
