Terell Thomas seals Charlton Athletic return – South London News

Terell Thomas has rejoined Charlton Athletic on a one-year contract.

The 26-year-old’s return is subject to EFL approval. Thomas, who was released by Reading at the end of last season, has been training with the Addicks for the past few weeks.

Charlton manager Ben Garner was keen to add another centre-back to his squad with Eoghan O’Connell, Sam Lavelle and Ryan Inniss his only senior options.

Thomas had eight years with the Addicks before, initially joining their youth set up before joining Wigan Athletic in 2017. He said:  “I’m really pleased to be back. I feel like I’ve got a lot of unfinished business here.

“When I was in the academy my dream was to break into the first team and now I have that opportunity so I’m very excited.”

Garner said: “He has trained with us for the last three weeks, so he is already integrated with the squad. Being a former academy player he knows the club well. Terell has good experience playing from League Two through to the Championship and we are very pleased to welcome him into the squad.”

Charlton owner Thomas Sandgaard added: “We wanted to add to our defensive options, so we’re really pleased to bring in Terell, who has impressed everyone with his ability and attitude while he has been training with us.”

Thomas is the eighth signing this season.

The Addicks saw a deadline day loan deal for QPR’s Macauley Bonne collapse. If they want to add to their frontline options before January, it will need to be dipping into the free agent pool.
