Supercomputer predicts final Premier League table after Man Utd’s win over Arsenal with Ronaldo and Co in for heartbreak

MANCHESTER UNITED have been predicted to finish outside the top four for a second consecutive season, according to a supercomputer.

That is despite the Red Devils on a four-game winning streak which includes victories over Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester and Arsenal.

A supercomputer has predicted Manchester United to finish fifth this season

Sunday’s 3-1 win against the Gunners at Old Trafford lifted Erik ten Hag’s men up to fifth in the table – five points behind Mikel Arteta’s table-topping side.

And that is the position where the Theatre of Dreams outfit have been backed to finish by a supercomputer.

The number-crunching machine for SBK has used betting market analysis to project the final Premier League table following the opening six matches.

But even though United are on a remarkable run, a top four finish will just elude them judging by the data.

Manchester City have been backed to win the top-flight for the third time in a row, with Liverpool to finish in second spot yet again.

Jurgen Klopp would surely take a runners-up spot giving their inconsistent form so far this term having picked up nine out of a possible 18 points.

Despite their defeat to United, Arsenal are predicted to return to the Champions League in third spot – ahead of North London rivals Tottenham in fourth.

Should that happen, it would be the first time Spurs would have finished below the Gunners since the 2015-16 season.

United then follow in fifth with Chelsea behind with the two clubs having to settle for a Europa League spot.

Newcastle are then backed to finish in seventh place which would be their highest position since they came fifth in the 2011-12 season.

And it would mark a return to European football as they would seal their spot in next year’s Europa Conference League.

Brighton are then predicted to post their highest-ever Premier League finish in eighth, with West Ham and Crystal Palace to complete the top ten.

Aston Villa, Brentford and Leeds then follow, with Wolves, Southampton and Fulham escaping relegation.

Winless Everton are backed to just avoid dropping down to the second-tier of English football for the first time since 1951.

But the same can’t be said for Leicester who are predicted to end the season in 18th spot, with Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth also tipped to go down.
