Anastacia sings on London street as she tries to prove her identity to unconvinced fans

Anastacia wowed London ramblers when she proved her identity by breaking into song on Sunday evening, in footage shared to TikTok by a fan.

The singer, 53, was forced to belt out her 2004 hit Left Outside Alone when a gang of unconvinced devotees on a Soho street refused to believe it was really her.

Looking ever-chic in a denim jacket and orange-tinted sunglasses, she began to perform the track before asking, ‘You believe it’s me now, right?’

Having won her admirers over, they sang along with her… to the best of their ability.

Sharing the clip to the video-sharing platform, one user wrote: ‘When you bump into @freakanastacia outside your local and she gives you a private concert in the street!’

The I’m Outta Love hitmaker soon addressed her own Instagram followers to tell them what had happened.

She began: ‘I want to tell you a funny story! I was needing some coffee doing all the work for the tour and all of a sudden I saw this really fun bar so I accidentally went in and I found so many amazing people, it was so cool.’

Anastacia’s I’m Outta Lockdown tour begins in September 15 in Lisbon before concluding on November 19 in the Faroe Islands.

She became a household name in 2000 with the release of her smash hit single I’m Outta Love, only to disappear from the charts in recent years.

But Anastacia revealed how various health problems made it nearly impossible for her to maintain a global career over the years, having battled illnesses including Crohn’s disease, a heart condition and two bouts of breast cancer.

‘That’s probably been my biggest problem – when I’m really ready and raring to go, another disease comes,’ Anastacia told News.com.au last year, a day after she was crowned the winner of The Masked Singer Australia 2021.

‘It’s been tough to be able to keep the motion and momentum going,’ the pop star added.

Anastacia, who is set to tour Australia next year, also admitted she isn’t planning to release another studio album ever again, following the lacklustre success of her 2017 release Evolution.

‘I don’t know that I want to put tons of music out for it to never get listened to,’ she confessed.

Instead, Anastacia hopes to release a string of chart-topping singles, therefore avoiding the pressure of having to release an entire album.

The Sick And Tired songstress was diagnosed at 13 with Crohn’s disease, an inflammatory bowel disease that can cause severe chronic symptoms that never go away.

She was also diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, and not long after was also diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia – a heart condition with causes varied and rapid heartbeats.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time in 2013, Anastacia decided to undergo an immediate double mastectomy.

During Tuesday night’s The Masked Singer finale, Anastacia told the guessing panel that she was struggling to find work in America due to the pandemic effectively shutting down the entertainment industry.

‘The industry is completely frozen. And that is just what our reality is as performers,’ she said, growing emotional.

‘We have no stages to go on, we can’t have crowds, and I understand that because I want to keep people safe, but I miss doing my job and I really, really miss singing.

‘And so this was such a beautiful, like, get out of jail free card. I don’t know when I’m gonna be able to tour. I’m hopeful, but I might be 75 by the time I get on the stage.’
