Don’t rule out late Tottenham bid for Everton winger Gordon – Paul Brown

Journalist Paul Brown has stated that Tottenham Hotspur making a late bid for Everton winger Anthony Gordon cannot be ruled out.

The England Under-21 international is highly rated in the football community and has been attracting interest from a number of clubs with Chelsea leading the charge [Sky Sports].

Spurs are also one of the interested parties in Gordon and made a bid for him earlier in the season as well [Sky Sports].

Brown, while talking to Give Me Sport, suggested that a late bid from the North London-based club cannot be ruled out, especially to annoy Chelsea’s new hierarchy.

“Don’t rule out a late bid from Spurs,” he said.

“Especially as they know it would really annoy Chelsea, which is something I’m sure the Spurs chairman would love to do.”

Time to cash in

Everton entered this transfer window knowing that they will have to sign attacking players because of uncertainty regarding the futures of Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Out of those two, only Richarlison has left the club and joined Spurs whereas the England international is set to stay after suffering an injury in the pre-season.

Letting someone like Gordon leave was probably never on the cards, especially at the back end of the last season but interest from some of the big boys has clearly unsettled the youngster who is now reportedly keen on leaving the club.

Therefore, it will be in the best interest of Everton to cash in on the player who does not to stay at the Goodison Park for a long time.

Gordon is a Toffee’s academy product and was promoted to the club’s senior team in January 2020.

Since then, he has represented his current club in 63 matches across all competitions where he has managed to score four times and provided eight assists [Transfermarkt].
