Greenwich Comedy Festival showcases at the National Maritime Museum September – South London News

Greenwich Comedy Festival, the capital’s annual showcase of the best names in comedy, is set to light up the lawns of the National Maritime Museum next month from September 14-18.

Stewart Lee, the legendary Dylan Moran and the acclaimed Sindhu Vee are among the big names performing at this year’s five-night festival that again presents an unrivalled programme of multi-act shows starring bonafide legends alongside electric new talents.

Highlights include Qi’s Alan Davies, Netflix star Kerry Godliman, cult comic and poet Time Key, one-liner king Milton Jones and the masterful Simon Amstell plus many of the acts that have been delighting the critics at this month’s Edinburgh Fringe.

Frankie Boyle is set to appear with his “breathtakingly rude and brilliantly assembled jokes”, Amy Gledhill brings her 4-star “cartoonish flair” back to London and fast-rising Celya Ab is the “comic shooting to fame”.

The critically-acclaimed festival, now in its 14th year, combine curated line-ups with a tastemaker selection at the bars and food by street-food marvels, all under the backdrop of Royal Greenwich with Docklands.

Produced by Greenwich-raised siblings Will Briggs and Cass Randolph of 57 Festivals, step-children of the late great comedy promoter Malcolm Hardee, the festival provides the round-up of the best comedians of the moment, and the pair are looking forward to getting back to their old stomping ground.

“Everything started for us in Greenwich.” says Cass. “We launched this festival 14 years ago and have since branched out to other locations across the UK, but Greenwich will always be our home.”

Will said: “We’ve got so incredible shows this year, with comedy legends such as Stewart Lee and Frankie Boyle starring alongside hotly-tipped acts like Chloe Petts and Celya AB who are destined for greatness, every show is going to be incredible.”
