‘A natural finisher’ – Dons boss outlines qualities Brentford loanee will bring – South London News

AFC Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson has outlined the qualities that Nathan Young-Coombes will bring to the squad during his season-long loan from Brentford.

The 19-year-old Young-Coombes, who had spells with Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Rangers as a youngster, won Brentford B’s Player of the Year for the 2021-22 season.

He scored 34 goals last season for the B team and was rewarded by Thomas Frank with a Premier League debut when he came on as a substitute during the 3-0 win against Southampton in early May.

Paris Magohma is also on loan from the Brentford Community Stadium at Plough Lane.

Young-Coombes arrives in South London having been capped by England at U15 and U17 level.

“Goals, hopefully,” Jackson told the South London Press about what he expects the young forward to bring to the squad.

“He scored a hat-full for Brentford B last season. He’s another young player who wants to really work hard.

“He’s a real team player, makes good runs, and wants to play on the shoulder and press high.

“He has bundles of energy and was really keen to go out and get that first loan and play league football.

“He’s an exciting, young talent with lots of potential that we thought we could really help with his development.

“We have done a lot of homework on him and watched him – he’s a natural finisher.

“You don’t score that many goals at any level without being able to be a natural finisher. He has got good movement, and again, he’s got the right attitude and work ethic.

“He’ll really fit in with the group we are creating here.”
