Tottenham Hotspur are set to face Sevilla in a pre-season friendly in South Korea. Former Spurs attacker Erik Lamela is looking forward to meeting his old teammates.

Leaving North London before the start of the 2021/22 season, the Argentine made his way to Spain and is now plying his trade in La Liga. A permanent move to Sevilla ended his eight-year association with Tottenham.

Speaking ahead of the game via the Spanish club’s official website (h/t football.london), the 30-year-old expressed his excitement over the prospect of reuniting with his former teammates.

Erik Lamela is looking forward to meeting his old teammates.

“After so many years at Spurs, it’s going to be a special game for me. I’ll be seeing many former teammates, and I have a lot of friends there.”

In Lamela’s time with the Lilywhites, the attacking player featured 256 times for the club, scoring 36 goals and providing 46 assists. His feisty character made him a fan favourite in North London.

Having seen many ups and downs with Tottenham, the 30-year-old always gave his all when he pulled on the white shirt. The Argentine made a place for himself in the squad before injuries hampered his career at Spurs.

Injuries marred the last few years of his time in North London and Lamela didn’t feature much for the side. New additions to the squad also made it difficult to get into the first XI.

With Harry Kane bursting onto the scene in the 2014/15 season and Son Heung-min signing for Spurs in 2015, naturally, Lamela found himself more and more on the bench.

In his last season at the club, the 30-year-old started just five Premier League games. Injury troubles have followed him to Sevilla, and the winger hasn’t featured much for the Andalusians.

Lamela has had many moments that the Tottenham crowd can cherish. But one of the most outrageous goals he scored, a Puskas Award winning rabona in the North London derby, will forever be etched in every Spurs fan’s mind.
