Arsenal & Erik ten Hag now want £25m Aston Villa target – he’s just flown to London

According to The Secret Scout, Arsenal and Manchester United are now interested in signing Aston Villa target Calvin Bassey.

What’s the story?

Well, just hours after The Secret Scout revealed that Omari Hutchinson was leaving Arsenal for Chelsea – a scoop reposted by Fabrizio Romano, and made official this morning – they share more intriguing news.

It is said that Bassey – who is shining for Rangers over in Glasgow – is now a target for both Mikel Arteta and Erik ten Hag, following a fine 2021/22 season at Ibrox.

It comes after Steven Gerrard also expressed an interest in raiding his old club for the Nigeria international.

Bassey made 50 appearances in all competitions for Rangers last term, providing six assists as the Bears reached the Europa League final, where they suffered defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, the 22-year-old delivered a phenomenal performance from an individual aspect, which has now alerted some of Europe’s finest clubs to his ability, such as Ajax.

Brighton are also said to be keen.

Arsenal may be about to beat Manchester United & Aston Villa

Interestingly, it has been said that Bassey caught a flight to London last night to discuss his future.

The versatile defender supposedly flew from Scotland to Gatwick as transfer speculation intensified, and if that was indeed the case, he is surely unlikely to play any part in today’s friendly against Blackpool.

Of course, club officials from Manchester United and Aston Villa are able to travel to London, although that choice of destination suggests it is far more likely that Bassey was speaking to Arsenal, who are based in north London.

Therefore, Arteta could be about to beat Ten Hag and Gerrard to a player who is arguably the best prospect in Scotland at the moment.

If talks go well, the Gunners should expect to part with £25m, which is what Rangers are said to be demanding.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as things seem to be developing quickly.
