North London bound? West Ham says goodbye to player linked to Tottenham

A couple of weeks ago, a report surfaced linking West Ham United starlet Sonny Perkins, whose deal expired on June 30th, to Tottenham Hotspur. Now it seems as though the north London club could have the opportunity to sign the 18-year-old striker.

The Hammers announced that the teenager was leaving the club as both parties could not agree on a contract extension. Furthermore, West Ham United added in the statement that they’re disappointed with Perkins’ representatives.

West Ham United went on to say that they firmly believe Perkins was approached to sign for another club, leading to him asking to be released from his scholarship.

“West Ham United take this matter very seriously – we believe the rules and structures in place at the Football Association and Premier League should be upheld at all times,” the club said.

Spurs aren’t the only Premier League club eyeing Perkins this summer, as Aston Villa and Leeds United are also connected to the young player. Nonetheless, it seems Tottenham want young English talent considering they were also linked to Everton’s Anthony Gordon.

Whether it occurs in this window or the next, there’s no doubt acquiring England internationals will be one of their priorities.
