Arsenal and Tottenham to do battle over Raphinha
Arsenal are set to go head-to-head with fierce rivals Tottenham over the signing of Leeds winger Raphinha.
The Gunners have found themselves increasingly linked with Brazilian and there’s been talk of a £50million bid being placed imminently. However, Spurs are also circling.
According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham have already made contact with Leeds, who are open to selling Raphinha this summer if their valuation – thought to be in the region of £60m – is met. The Whites are also expecting an approach from Arsenal.
Raphinha’s agent Deco is understood to have held meetings with Gunners technical director Edu, which has increased speculation that the North Londoners will make an offer for the in-demand attacker.
Tottenham are said to be holding out hope that Raphinha’s his desire to play in the Champions League will aid their chances of completing a coup. Raphinha has two years left on his Leeds contract but is ready to leave Elland Road ahead of the World Cup this winter.
The player’s preferred destination remains Barcelona, however, the cash-strapped Catalan club are unlikely to be able to afford him this summer.
