Arsenal ‘expected to make offers’ to bring £75m duo to Emirates

Arsenal are still likely to put in bids for Gabriel Jesus and Youri Tielemans this summer, says the Daily Express’ Ryan Taylor.

The north London club continue to be heavily linked with the Manchester City and Leicester City stars, and Taylor expects them to eventually submit offers for both players.

What is the latest news involving Jesus and Tielemans?

As per The Telegraph, Jesus is Arsenal’s top target to replace Alexandre Lacazette, who has returned to Lyon after reaching the end of his contract at the Emirates.

According to the newspaper, City value their striker at £50m, and the Gunners are confident that they can wrap up a deal this transfer window.

Prior, the same outlet claimed that Mikel Arteta was pushing for the club to make a £25m bid for Tielemans, though it is thought that Leicester could demand over £30m for the Belgian.

However, with just a year to go on his contract, the Foxes may not have too much power when it comes to negotiations.

What has Taylor said about, Jesus, Tielemans and Arsenal?

Taylor has told GIVEMESPORT that he expects Arsenal to put in offers for Jesus and Tielemans this transfer window.

When asked by GMS if both players are still on the Gunners’ agenda, the Daily Express journalist said: “100%, they’re names that have been talked about for quite a while, but nothing’s really sort of happened with them.

“But I think Arsenal, for whatever reason, they’re just waiting and taking their time to make their offers. I do expect them to make offers for both.”

Which player should Arsenal prioritise?

From an Arsenal perspective, it would be great if they could land both Jesus and Tielemans this summer. And given the arrival of Erling Haaland at City and the latter’s contract situation, there is a good chance they do.

However, if they had to prioritise signing one, then it would surely be Jesus. Following Lacazette’s departure, the Premier League outfit are in desperate need of a new forward, with the Brazil international undoubtedly a good option.

In 236 appearances for City, he has scored 95 goals and played in more than one position under Pep Guardiola.

Over the last year, his overall stats have also been pretty impressive. Among forwards, he has ranked in the 91st percentile for shot-creating actions, the 96th for dribbles completed and the 97th for touches in the penalty area (via FBref).

Arteta, of course, also knows Jesus well from his time as City assistant coach, so considering that and all the above, you would imagine that he is the one signing that the Spaniard really wants this summer.
