Olympic silver medallist makes return to Peckham BMX this weekend – South London News

Olympic silver medallist Kye White is returning to his home club Peckham BMX this weekend to ride in one of the biggest events in the sport’s domestic calendar.

British Cycling is bringing its BMX Race National Series to Southwark council’s Burgess Hill track with rounds seven and eight taking place tomorrow and Sunday.

Other local talent on show includes elite women’s rider Shani Harris-Sherwood and Peckham‘s first world champion, Quillan Isidore.

Councillor Alice Macdonald, cabinet member for equalities, neighbourhoods and leisure, said: “We are delighted to be hosting this exciting event.

“Our BMX track, excellent coaches and the Peckham BMX Club, work together to give local children an opportunity to join a community, learn valuable life skills and have fun.

“It is wonderful that local children can come along to watch riders like Kye Whyte, who trained in Peckham like them, and have risen to national and Olympic heights. We wish Kye and all of the local BMX riders the very best of luck in this competition.”

Peckham-born White, 22, started riding BMX at the age of three. He won silver at the 2018 European BMX Championships.
