Everton face losing key man to Premier League rivals

Everton star Richarlison is intent on leaving the club this summer but won’t go to Real Madrid for fear of lacking game time, according to UOL Esporte.

Former Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti was reported to be “determined” to reunite with the 25-year-old this summer, after adding another Champions League trophy at the Santiago Bernabeu [LaOpinion].

But having just won the top club competition in world football, as well as La Liga, the Brazil international worries he may be stuck on the bench ahead of this winter’s Qatar World Cup.

He therefore prefers a move to one of the two London clubs who can offer him Champions League football, Chelsea or Tottenham.

Spurs are reportedly already in negotiations over a move for the man who Everton want in excess of £50million for [UOL Esporte].

Contact is yet to materialise from Stamford Bridge, but Thomas Tuchel is thought to want reinforcements in attack with the futures of Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech all uncertain.

Logical

Based on his preference to be the same sort of key player that he has been in his time at Goodison, at least in recent months, a move to West London makes more sense than North London.

Harry Kane and Son Hueng-min are essentially undroppable, while Dejan Kulusevski has proven to be a success.

The revolving cast of inconsistent talent in attacking departments at Chelsea has been enough to win them a recent Champions League and qualify them for the top competition again, but gives The Pigeon a greater chance to establish himself.

As much as it will be more difficult to stomach for the fans at Goodison Park, and surely risks breaking the strong relationship that was built up through the fight against the drop, it makes sense from the player’s point of view.

While for many a move to Madrid is the pinnacle of a career, Eden Hazard’s transformation from league star at Stamford Bridge to forgotten man at the Bernabeu is a cautionary tale.

If neither of his preferred destinations can put together a suitable bid he could theoretically remain at Goodison as he is thought to retain strong feelings for the club.

But the signs are pointing towards the exit currently, and unfortunately for Toffees fans not for one far enough away.

In other Everton news, two talkSPORT pundits think a move to one one club as a back-up option is a good idea.
