A picture of a lorry unloading goods in West London has sparked fury among cyclists as it blocks a designated cycle path. Slamming the industrial vehicle for its “illegal parking”, two wheeled enthusiasts used the picture to spread awareness of cyclists’ safety in London. Criticisms were shared on social media where users complained about the lack of protection for bikers on the capital’s roads.
The picture was taken on King Street, Hammersmith, by cyclist Stefan and it received a huge reaction online. Shared on Wednesday (June 8), the lorry’s parking was even slammed by BBC Radio host Jeremy Vine who said he’s “sick of this”.
Jeremy Vine, a keen cyclist, only recently he slammed “annoying” road closures that were in place in preparation for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this week. His comments about the danger to cyclists the Hammersmith lorry was causing were shared by multiple Twitter users.

One said: “Not even legal to unload or load there, even to alight, regardless of the cycle lane. Just look at the road markings.” Another person added: “It’s a double yellow line. Park a car in one and I’d guess automatic ticket and hefty fine.”
The main consensus was that the lorry driver had caused an unnecessary danger to cyclists wishing to use the lane. There were some comments asking where the lorry driver could have parked to make his deliveries instead. Stefan told those who supported the lorries’ parking that there was a loading bay on the other side of the road.
Another Twitter user also said that a loading lane is available behind Kings Street on Down Place, where the lorry driver could have parked safely to make his deliveries.
