Video shows brawl break out on Thameslink train heading through London with passenger ‘threatening to stab everyone’

A mass brawl broke out on a Thameslink service heading through central London from Brighton to Cambridge. Footage captured by a passenger caught around 10 boys pushing a screaming woman and her partner down the aisle, with children crying in the background.

The mum’s partner then allegedly hit one of the group’s main instigators after they reportedly hurled abuse at his wife. A brawl then erupted on the Thameslink service, with the teenagers reportedly drawing knives and threatening to stab everyone on the train.

Summer Thomas, 20, filmed the video at approximately 10.10pm on Thursday night (June 2) on a Thameslink train, which included stops at East Croydon and London Bridge. She told the Mirror : “They were shouting abusive language, calling people the C-word, chanting and just picking fights with anyone. They clearly wanted to start trouble.

Summer continued: “There were two children in the same carriage, a family, so the mum of two kids went over to tell them to be quiet because they were swearing. She said it was really embarrassing and that she just wanted to get home peacefully.

She added that the boys were “throwing beer bottles” and “shouting abusive language” at passengers before a mum with two young children in the carriage asked them to be quieten down.

Video still of boys involved in brawl on train

Summer filmed the footage just after 10pm on June 2

According to Summer, it was after she stopped recording that the group of boys pulled out their weapons and threatened to stab everyone on the train. Passengers were left marred by the incident, with some knocking on the driver’s door and others scrambling to find the emergency handle.

Summer, who got off at East Croydon, shared her footage on social media, writing: “If anyone knows who any of these kids are on the Brighton to Cambridge train at 22.12pm then please let me know, shouting abuse at every single person until someone decided to challenge them.”

This prompted the British Transport Police (BTP) into action. A spokesperson for the BTP told MyLondon: “We are currently investigating a fight which took place at around 10.30pm on June 2, aboard a service from Brighton to Cambridge.

“It is believed the group involved alighted the service at Three Bridges. There have not been any arrests at this time.

“Violence of any form will absolutely not be tolerated on our rail network and so we urge anyone with information to get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to text BTP on 61016 with reference 723 of 2 June.

“Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
