How Tottenham could line up next season after Antonio Conte welcomes Ivan Perisic transfer

Tottenham enjoyed a strong finish to last season and sealed their place in the 2022-23 Champions League with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Norwich on the final day. Beating Arsenal to fourth will have only made the achievement sweeter.

Antonio Conte is set to stay for at least one more season to oversee that European tour and the summer business is already underway. ENIC provided the Italian with an added £150 million ahead of the summer and he has brought in one of his Inter Milan favourites.

Spurs were battling with Chelsea for the signature of Ivan Perisic and it was confirmed on Tuesday that the experienced Croatian has chosen to join his former boss in north London, signing on the dotted line this week. In his first interview, he revealed that he could not wait to get started.

“I’m really excited to start with the Spurs family. It’s going to be my home for the next two years,” Perisic told Spurs TV. “When I got in contact with the coach and the Sporting Director [Fabio Paratici], I told them that I really wanted to come here in the Premier League, since 2009 when I started to play professional football in Belgium. This is the moment and I can’t wait.”

The 33-year-old then spoke on his reunion with Conte and what he thinks about the Italian, as a coach. “It’s a privilege to work with a coach like this. We did well [at Inter], we won the league after ten or 11 years. It was really a perfect year. Yeah, I am really happy to see him again. He’s living football, every minute, every hour, every day, even when he’s sleeping, he’s thinking about football. I like his character and I know we’re going to do a great job here.”

Spurs are likely to add more to their side before deadline day in September, but if they were to start the season with their current crop of players, how could they line up? With that in mind, football.london takes a look.

Possible line-up with Perisic (3-4-3): Hugo Lloris; Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Ben Davies; Matt Doherty, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ivan Perisic; Dejan Kulusevski, Harry Kane, Son Heung-min.
