Croydon crash live: Updates after cyclist dies in crash outside Mitcham Road BP garage

A cyclist has died following a crash outside a BP garage in Croydon. Met Police officers and London Ambulance Service (LAS) paramedics were called to the petrol station on Mitcham road at 3.11am today (Monday, May 30).

London’s Air Ambulance also attended the Croydon scene. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the cyclist died a short time later. Officers are in the process of tracing the man’s next of kin. A Met Police spokesperson said they are not releasing further details at present.

The car failed to stop at the scene. Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating and urgent enquiries are under way to identify the car and its driver. They would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or captured it on dash cam.
