Bromley boss predicted Michael Cheek would be their Wembley matchwinner – South London News

Andy Woodman has revealed how he predicted Michael Cheek to score Bromley’s winner against Wrexham at Wembley.

The 30-year-old scored the decisive goal to ensure the Ravens won the FA Trophy final against the Welsh outfit on Sunday afternoon.

Cheek was left out of the 1-1 draw against Dover Athletic last weekend and the Bromley boss admitted that the striker wasn’t impressed.

“He didn’t talk to me last week because I left him out of the game,” Woodman joked.

“I said: ‘You need to rest’. He couldn’t get it in his head. I told him that he would score the winner at Wembley and just reminded him of that.

“Sometimes I tell the boys I know what I’m doing, today it came off. Cheeky’s been brilliant for this football club. If anyone deserves to get the winner at Wembley it is certainly him.

“What it means to me is the people at Bromley are proud of their team. The owner has put everything into this football club and I’m chuffed for him.

“He should get a lot of credit for what he’s done behind the scenes – not only for what he’s put into the club but the people he’s brought to the club.

“I’m chuffed for him and the town of Bromley, we have a team to be proud of.”
