Rowett has no plans to move on from Millwall – South London News

Gary Rowett has emphasised he has “no plans” for his reign as Millwall manager to end.

There had been speculation over Rowett’s future after the odds on him being the next QPR boss shortened at the end of last week.

And it was also reported he had been in contention for Watford before they appointed Forest Green Rovers’ Rob Edwards to succeed Roy Hodgson once their Premier League season is over this weekend.

Rowett, who is 16th longest-serving boss in England’s top four divisions, said: “We’ve worked hard here – myself, the staff and the players.

“My son works in London and my daughter is coming down to London next year.

“I have no plans to do anything other than work as hard as I can to see what we can do this summer to get us promoted.

“We’ve got a big summer ahead. There are things as a manager I need us to do as a club, to try and move forward.

“But what I would say is the club have always tried to back that and I don’t see anything different this summer.

“I enjoy working here and certainly I imagine people will have to put up with me for a little bit longer. That might please some people and it might not please other people.

“The bloke that sits behind me on the bench might not be very happy – he’ll have to abuse me for another year!”
